For Safe and Fast Re-charging and Equalizing Flooded Lead-Acid Batteries: |
-
Features two modes – ‘NORMAL’ and ‘EQUALISE’.
-
‘NORMAL mode re-charging’ means restoring charge to a battery that is discharged after normal usage in the vehicle. The Fast Charger series in NORMAL mode can re-charge batteries that have been discharged down to 1.55 V/cell within 4 hours.
-
Equalising charge is required for batteries after they are fully charged to ensure that all cells are balanced – i.e. all cell voltages and battery specific gravities are approximately equal. This ensures that all cells of the battery are discharged during the work-shift phase. This prevents some cells from being either under-charged or over-charged during the charging phase and prolongs battery life.
-
EQUALISE mode charging in the Fast Charger series combines the functions of recovering deeply-discharged batteries, re-charging up to 100% state-of-charge and providing equalizing charge.
-
The EN series in ‘EQUALISE mode’ allows charging of batteries that are discharged down to 1.1 V/cell (deeply-discharged).
- Leading battery manufacturers recommend true constant current equalizing. This is to "extend battery life".

OPTIMUM USAGE AND ADVANTAGES |
-
The EN series can recover 80% DOD batteries up to 65% of AH in just 2 hours of safe fast bulk charging. This recovery is done solely dependant on the present state-of-charge (SOC) of the battery – this means that the battery can be connected to the Fast charger whenever breaks are available during the work-shift (short breaks, lunch breaks, shift changes etc .,).
-
These bursts of opportunity charge can ensure that the batteries are always between 30 – 80% charged throughout the working shift.
-
This means that the electrical parts in the vehicle are always working off a ‘strong’ battery – this reduces heating in the electrical circuits and can reduce vehicle electrical maintenance costs.
-
This also means that the time taken to re-charge the battery up to 100% in the ‘off-shift’ hours is considerably reduced since batteries that are brought in for re-charging are rarely discharged down to 80% (and more). Thus 100% charged batteries are available for service much faster. This can lead to significant improvements in productivity with consequent cost advantages.
-
Hence the Fast Charger series is used to its optimum advantage by having it function as a ‘Shop-Floor’ charger – batteries should be connected to the charger during the work-shift for short periods whenever possible.
-
The Fast Charger series can operate equally optimally in the charging room, since it is designed to complete a 100% re-charging cycle safely in 4 hours or less.
